Technical Specification Tool
Technical Specification Tool is important for digital business solutions. At On Device Solutions, we take process improvements and reducing waste very seriously. In other words, we strive to practise what we preach and that is what consulting services are about. On one hand, our consulting and architecture teams assess every aspect of customers’ business process, systems and workflow and identify potential areas of improvements and cost-saving. Then, on the other hand, the same thinking and approach are rigorously applied within internal teams and processes to reduce efforts, turnaround time and increase savings for us and our customers most importantly.
Cost reduction and being efficient is the top priority for any organization and given the current economic situation, it is prudent to explore all possibilities. And we have managed to tweak our internal processes for cutting down efforts on technical documentation by a minimum of 50%.
ODS technical team has started developing our version of the technical documentation tool for product development and consulting assignments. We are aware that there are tools available in similar lines (e.g. New ABAP Doc Features with NetWeaver 7.5), but the challenge has always been to leverage them to deliver real tangible savings for us and our customers. Besides, there are numerous areas that we felt it needs to better such as the need to merge multiple documents, support for dictionary objects, and most importantly make the documentation business friendly and simple enough for the support teams to follow as part of day-2-day support.
This is simple to use, can be extended with additional features and most importantly, we can pass on the tangible savings to our customers (appx 10% reduction in delivery efforts minimum).

Why not take a quick look at what the tool does in the below video (appx 2 minutes)? And our thanks and appreciations my team member Prateek for leading this and making it a handy reusable tool for all our projects.
The teams are not stopping here, there is more to come, and our idea is to develop a comprehensive framework for preparing technical documentation for all projects both internal and customers. And we are open for ideas and collaboration, so feel free to reach out to us!
