SAP Intelligent Asset Management (SAP IAM) is a suite of cloud solutions that comes with standard integration with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA


Asset central provides the data foundation for SAP Intelligent Asset Management (SAP IAM). This data foundation layer is automatically synched with customer SAP EAM (ECC or S/4 HANA system) e.g. notifications, work orders, functional locations, and equipment data.
The data model is further enhanced in IAM to allow for collaboration data to be stored e.g. models and indicators data in IAM.


SAP Asset Manager (SAM) is the mobile asset management solution for SAP ECC or S/4HANA. It builds on decades of SAP’s experience in mobile asset management, the next generation tool now comes with standard integration with SAP IAM as well.

To strike the right balance between three objectives (safety and compliance, reduced cost & increased uptime) of an effective asset management regime, it is important to weigh up risks and critically assess each approach. For example a run to failure may be right for one asset type but disastrous for another.
